A June 8 crash involving three vehicles resulted in injury to two.

Cleburne firefighters responded at 3:47 p.m. to the intersection of Main Street and Old Foamy Road to find one of the vehicles resting on its roof in a ditch. All vehicles sustained major damage, according to reports.

No occupants were entrapped in the vehicles. One, however, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Fort Worth hospital. Firefighters treated another driver at the scene who did not go to the hospital.

Names and condition updates of the injured parties have not been released.

Reports list no details on the cause of the crash.

Firefighters responded at 2 p.m. the same day to a single-vehicle crash in the 1400 block of West Kilpatrick Avenue. The car drove into a chain link fence sustaining minor damage in the process. Reports do not list whether the driver suffered injury.

Firefighters responded to a third accident call at 9:31 a.m. the same day in the 200 block of Granbury Street. The driver of a motorcycle rear ended a car. None of the drivers or passengers involved suffered injury.

Firefighters at 12:18 p.m. June 4 responded to the 300 block of South Walnut Street to find a vehicle partially inside of a home. Both occupants were injury free and sitting on the curb when firefighters arrived. The homeowner told firefighters that no one was home when the accident occurred. The vehicle, a Nissan SUV, sustained moderate front-end damage. The home sustained about $20.000 worth of damage including damage to two walls.

Firefighters, at 9:01 a.m. the same day responded to the 1600 block of West Henderson Street on a collision involving a motorcycle and a car. One patient was transported to an area hospital in unknown conditions. Reports list no cause for the collision.

Firefighters at 6:01 a.m. June 6 responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of Chad Street only to find no signs of fire or smoke. The homeowner told firefighters that the fire, located on the front porch of the house, was knocked down before they arrived. Firefighters noted a small section of the home’s siding that was warped and a board connecting the home and the front porch that was burnt. Firefighters sprayed the area with a garden hose and checked for signs of fire extension but found none.

Firefighters at 6:16 p.m. June 3 responded to U.S. Poly Co. in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, they were advised that a reactor outside of the main building was on fire. A company employee told firefighters that the reactor is used to make asphalt mix.

The representative said that the vat was being filled with liquid nitrogen to control the fire and that all power to the reactor had been shut off. The plant manager told firefighters that the best course of action was to cool the outside of the tank and let the liquid nitrogen work, according to reports.

Firefighters used about 12,500 gallons of water to cool the tank and bring it below the 550 degree flash point.

At that point, firefighters discovered that an oil line had ruptured on top of the reactor causing the fire to continue. Firefighters extinguished the fire and used a lift to ensure that it was out.

Firefighters returned to the location at 8:26 p.m. June 5 to find a silo used for manufacturing asphalt was on fire. Minimal fire was noted with no spread to other structures.

Plant workers worked to remove oxygen from the silo by increasing nitrogen to stop the burning. Firefighters took no action other than to remain on scene until the fire was out.
